We have a long and rich history of welcoming volunteers to our work. We accept volunteers of all ages, with various backgrounds and experiences, including environmentalists who participate in daily tasks on our farm and reserve, pastors on sabbatical and retirees who want a life-giving change of pace with a holistic community working at social change, doctoral candidates and students doing research and investigations, budding peacebuilders looking for on-the-ground experience, and all kinds of other friends and acquaintances who want to spend a couple weeks or months with us. We love the diversity and energy of each new face in our community. 

While each volunteer and experience varies, there are some general practices we hold lightly (we are flexible!), which we have found helpful to provide a mutually beneficial and successful volunteer experience. We ask volunteers:

• Speak Spanish
• Cover their own expenses
• Plan ahead – we prefer to have a 3 months notice, if possible
• Stay a minimum of 3 months
