Mampuján

Mampujan-BannerMampuján is a community in the town of María la Baja, Department of Bolivar. This is a primarily Afro-Colombian population engaged in agricultural work. These 338 families fled their homes in 2000, after paramilitaries slaughtered 15 people in the neighboring village of Las Brisas, and began threatening Mampuján. This is the first community of victims of victims to receive a judgment by the Supreme Court under law 975 of 2005, which called for reparations and state compensation. Seeking compliance with this judgment, the community has carried out collective actions such as petitions, a march, socialization meetings, and dialogues between the community and government entities to advocate for land restitution and reparations on behalf of victims of violence.
