Libertad

Libertad-BannerLibertad is a predominantly Afro-Colombian community located along the sea and inhabited by about 5,000 people engaged in agriculture and fishing. This Caribbean community was hit by a wave of violence but remained resilient. Residents, by and large, did not flee. The community endured the cruelty and barbarism of paramilitary violence, which eventually subsided. Now in the process of rebuilding their community, residents have formed a Community Council to undertake collective action. This community is currently engaged in a pilot process of collective reparations.
